Nene, i tú si eres de poble per què no parles valencià?

You are but you are not ... you have fallen to life just because, and, since you wear it, you are going to have a good time. How did Raúl Alejandro Sansano García get to Crevillent ?, rebound, more-less.

His father, Andreson, was from the Elx camp. His mother, the Cuca, of the Vega Baja, I think of Dolores. Surely they ended up in Crevillent because of the aggregates extracted by the arid company Sansano, owned by the father and brothers of the Sierra.

Crossroads, natural resources, you know. The thing remained there, neither more nor more. Pensat i fet ... and there he spent his first life. Childhood in carrer Nena, soccer and other themes. A world of firecrackers and cats, of Calvari, of raspas and cromsa de barsa, of pinchos and going to school.

The afternoons were good. In the Ramón y Cajal there was a good fauna, each one more beautiful. Many good ones were and were. And what about Crevillent? ... Sansano has always been the small Crevillent, the close friend, the short distances.

Nothing of the official Crevillent, Holy Week and Moors and Christians. Immediately Sansano perceived that this "poble" was not his; the one to take pantxa, the poble dels alça rabos, the poble de figurà ... no, not like that.

Nene, i you if you are from poble per què no parles valencià? He does not speak it but he knows it, like so much of Crevillente. To be and not to be, power or not, mixed and uncertain identity, typical alicantina. The town was not that, he said.

There was another Macondo; the one of the friends of the institute, the one of the coveras connections, the one of the laughs of the annex, the one of "anemoné to Alacant de festa cousin". Sergio, Bruno, Clemente, Alejandro, Caye, Antonio and Tutti Quanti.

Mos fugem to serra sense passà per el fontenay. Never, anyway, he found himself comfortable. The systemic closure of the local, the economic racanería, bordering on the miserable, the mental closure, many people did not go beyond the red creu. He sympathized with those of La Vega, by peasants and peasants, it was more his character as it shows that this anthropological connection, this southern dimension, is the basis of his current work (and that lasts many years).

He hated Elche, they were very his and imperalist. I liked more of Alicante, its city and open character, its easy going, its fine cubatas. And there it also took root with Jessica ... identity connections to north and south, passing, however, by Crevillent, not leaving Crevillent.

Crevillent background, uncomfortable and comfortable crevillent, nap in the house of Brother Andresín, who is close to Calvary, almost on foot. The sister left with the milloneti, José Vicente, Lucas and lives in Caliph mode. The Jandro, his boy, something more crevillentero for being round, yes stayed.

Would it have been more of Crevillent if it had been caught by a local wench? ... we'll never know, surely not. I would have been more in the town but not there; without masses of 11, without marches to San Pascual, not feeling obligated by the sierra or by the quixal ticket.

To be and not to be, to be and not to be. Were your parents really around Crevillente? Yes, but not the one in tout-Crevillént, in the official village, in the one of César Augusto, that's not it. Back, yes, always return.

Sansano knew, knows and will know how to make the best of each place. The connection of the pot, Paco Bodegón's paella, still does not anchor to the streets of Crevillent, it literally hits the plate and napkin. It comes and goes, Vega Baja and Alicante, in San Vicente stop and inn, star of Levante and rest.

Alicante-Crevillent-Vega Baja-Murcia, that is the Alicante world of Raúl Sansano, who is in the best of Crevillent, being completely without being. And for many years, come and see.
